she twirls around on stage
she watches into crowds
the dancer knows her place

the theatergoers laugh
she falls into the stage
then dances to a curse

“o lord”, she prays aloud
“your love must know no bounds,
so will you save my soul?”

the theatergoers cry
their bodies liquefy
the dancer sits alone

“o lord”, she prays again
“your love must know no end,
why tear my heart this way?

still, the theater falls
as silence severs words
the dancer knows her place
